Chris Hughton

Chris HughtonImage via WikipediaI was shocked recently to read that Chris Hughton manager of Newcastle could be facing the sack.I have really admired the way Chris Hughton has quietly transformed Newcastle since taking over as manager and I think that he deserves to have the total support of both the owner and the supporters of Newcastle football club.
One thing Chris Hughton has shown us is that you don`t have to be an extrovert to be able to man manage people well and to be successful.
Personally I think that Chris Hughton should be the next England manager. We could do far worse!

Croydon Athletic Football Club.

Things looking very bad for Croydon.I think events at the club show why smaller clubs really should be encouraged and helped to become supporters trusts and stop  trading there futures in the hope that some white knight can bring them success.Clubs need to controlled by those that love the club not here today gone tomorrow businessman. Far too many clubs in non-league football have gone out of existence because they have gone down that road. Its about time lessons were learned

Wayne Rooney!

Rooney playing for EnglandImage via Wikipedia Wayne Rooney has flown out with the England squad for the European Championship match with Switzerland.Should this man continue playing for England? Personally I don`t think so.We need England players that set the right example to the young and make us proud not someone who represents all that is bad in our present day society.

2012 Great Britain Olympic Football Team.

2012 Summer OlympicsImage via WikipediaNow that the decision has long been made to enter a Great Britain team into the 2012 Olympics football competition I think its about time that the Football Association got on with the project and appointed a manager and arrange some games for the team so that they can prepare for the tournament.
If we are going to enter the tournament lets take things seriously, prepare well for it and do ourselves justice. The last thing football needs in this country is another flop in a important international football tournament.Lets get it right and show the world that we can be successful at an international level.

West Ham United.

The statue of Bobby Moore at the recently refu...Image via WikipediaHave always had an affection for West Ham.Was the nearest professional club to where was born and I knew people who knew the great Bobby Moore as he came from my home town Barking and I find it sad how they have got things so wrong in recent years.
Spent unwisely, been badly run, have appointed the wrong managers and not brought on youth the way they always did.
West Ham is about the East End of London. It needs to get back to its roots. Firstly it as made a mistake appointing yet another foreign manager. It needs someone who`s heart and roots are in the East End.It needs to invest in the youth of that area and bring through talent of the likes of Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst , Martin Peters, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, etc and it should forget this nonsense of uprooting the club and taking it to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford and stay where it belongs at Upton Park.
West Ham have always had the ideals of the majority of Eastenders hard working, decent who do the right thing. It should go back to those ideals and rediscover what made the club one of the most loved clubs in the land.

Boring!

WEST BROMWICH, ENGLAND - JANUARY 08: GonZalo ...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeAm I the only football supporter who is getting bored with the Premiership. It as become so predictable. We all know who are going to be the teams at the top and bottom before the season starts and the unpredictability of having a Derby, Nottingham Forest or a Ipswich come through and challenge for top honours which  happened in the seventies seems at present to be gone forever.
I think the league badly needs changing. Firstly we have to change the ownership of clubs to make things more equal. I think we should move to the system they have abroad where supporters own the clubs they support. Secondly I think we need a cap on wages and transfers and  ban clubs from having more than three foreign born players in their teams.Lastly I think we should introduce extra points for goals and  relegation play-offs that will see the bottom eight clubs fight to stay up in a end of season tournament and a play-off between third, fourth, fifth and sixth sides for places in Europe.
We need to make the league a more level playing field so all have a chance to compete for honours  and maintain interest in the league for all supporters not just the few right up to the end of the season.
Clubs don`t want to change because they are making lots of money but I think that if we don`t get change in a few years the fans will get so bored they will not just stop coming through the turnstiles they will also be switching off there televisions when the games are on.
